A Mission to Eastern Europe
May 1-11, WMA will return to Moldova, with an exciting opportunity to assist with a church plant in the historic city of Orhei. Through evangelism, medical missions, children’s and youth ministries, and other outreaches, you can help build this new church both spiritually and in numbers.
The name “Orhei” means “fortress,” and the city has played a significant role in Moldova’s history, having been part of Hungary, Romania, and the Russian Empire at different points. Orhei was also home to a large Jewish community, which once made up 40% of the city’s population.
Our team will host free medical clinics, providing healthcare to those who cannot afford it or need a second opinion, as well as a health education seminar. We’ll also conduct street evangelism programs featuring music, testimonies, drama, and Bible distribution.
Additionally, our team will minister to men in the drug rehabilitation center founded by Victory Church in Chisinau. We will offer encouragement to men who have been rejected by society and deemed hopeless. The rehab’s program is based on faith in Christ alone that helps them overcome decades of heroin addiction, showing the transformative power of Christ to renew lives.
On the sightseeing day, you will visit the Old Orhei Archaeological Complex (Orheiul Vechi), one of Moldova’s most impressive attractions. This site features ancient archaeological ruins, monasteries and monastic complexes carved into the cliffs, medieval sites, museums, outdoor trails, and stunning views of the Răut River gorge. Whether you’re drawn to nature or history, there is much to explore.
If you have a heart for Eastern Europe, want to help the hurting and broken, and are eager to strengthen a newly planted church, this is an incredible mission opportunity for you.
