FACTS

  • Mexico is a diverse and culturally rich country in North America with a long history of indigenous civilizations, Spanish colonization, and a vibrant contemporary culture.
  • Population: Approximately 129 million people as of 2025.
  • Official Language: Spanish; many communities also speak indigenous languages.
  • Capital: Mexico City, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world.
  • Mexico is a secular republic, and the state and churches are separate in law.
  • Religion: Christianity is the predominant religion. Approximately 95% of the population identify as Christian, with Roman Catholicism the largest affiliation and various Protestant, Evangelical, and other Christian groups present.
  • According to the 2020 Mexican census, around 78% are Catholic and about 11–11.2% are Protestant/Evangelical Christian; a growing number report no religion or non-affiliation.
  • Despite high self-identification with Christianity, regular church attendance is much lower, especially within nominal Catholicism, with many attending irregularly or culturally identifying with religious traditions.

WHY WE GO

Although most Mexicans identify as Christian, faith is often cultural rather than deeply lived. This creates a real opportunity for evangelism and discipleship that leads to restored lives.

Some indigenous and least-reached people groups still have limited access to the gospel in their own languages.

Mexico is facing deep social and economic challenges. Many are affected by poverty, especially in rural areas and underserved urban communities.

In many regions, violence and insecurity linked to organized crime continue to disrupt daily life, causing people to live in fear and hopelessness. There is a great need for prayer, healing, and hope.

Prayer is essential—for spiritual renewal, unity among believers, wisdom and courage for those serving, and open hearts across Mexico to encounter the life-changing hope of Christ.

In Mexico July 7-14, 2027 WMA will again partner with local churches and a Christian school to reach the most underprivileged segments of the population in Pachuca, Mexico. Church planting, serving in impoverished neighborhoods and underprivileged communities, street evangelism, medical missions, ministry among youth and women are the areas of ministry you can be a part of during this mission.

You will help host free clinics for people with no access to medical care, share your testimonies, give out Bibles and Gospel tracts, pray, counsel and encourage people who are struggling and are hopeless.

Children and youth are a big focus for our ministry in Mexico. The public education system in Mexico promotes principles and agendas contrary to the Word of God. Private Christian schools attract even non-believers because they are concerned about the future of their children. Local Christian schools have become a great base for our evangelistic work, not only with the kids but their families as well.

On the WMA team in Mexico you will have an opportunity to evangelize in the Garbage City by hosting food and Bible distribution and a medical clinic for the garbage collectors and their families. The community leaders of the Garbage City, impressed by the WMA work there on previous missions, asked us to come back. The people were deeply moved by the outreach and many received Jesus into their hearts. We plan to do follow up with many of them and are anticipating many more coming to know Christ through this outreach.

Another important ministry opportunity opened for us in a nursing home for the abandoned elderly people. You will be able to play games with them and give them gifts to put smiles on their faces. Most importantly you can tell them about Jesus, His love and healing.

On the day of sightseeing, you will have the opportunity to explore some of the beautiful sites and attractions of Pachuca and surrounding area, including the Real Del Monte silver mine and  Zacatlán de las Manzanas which is nestled in the Sierra Norte mountain range of Puebla. This the region is known for its production of apples, cider, and is home to the Relojes Centenario company, the very first manufacturer of monumental clocks in Latin America.
