As Christians, we are called by God to live to His standards that He sets in the Bible. In the recent years corporations have become involved in social and political activism that ultimately reflects the character of their leadership and their customers. Frequently, these values are very contrary to Christian values. How should we respond to the world around us in a way that reflects God’s character and His presence in our lives?

In this episode, our host Helen Todd talks with Phillip Todd, an economist for the US Senate who specializes in issues concerning small businesses. They discuss the recent news about Ben and Jerry’s deciding to withhold business from the West Bank, what causes corporate activism, and how should Christians respond to see positive change in the future.

2:30 – Helen and Phillip talk about Ben and Jerry’s recent business decision.

6:00 – The causes of corporate activism.

14:45 – Do corporations need to take political stands on certain issues?

17:45 – Phillip describes the effect of boycotts against companies.

22:20 – “If more people take a stand… you’re building a coalition.”

24:00 – The CEO’s role in making political and social decisions.

26:15 – Could corporate activism lead to a divided economy?
